A week long tryst with literature

The Department of English organised a week-long poem recital session, ‘Reciting Resistance: A week-long tryst with literature’ for MA English Literature, and BA EJP students. The sessions began on January 27, 2020.

It is a week-long event during the short break to recite and read poems on freedom, hope, love and equality. The main idea of the event is to spread equality and be voice to voiceless. Sabita, a student from I M.A English says, ‘’A week long tryst with literature opened up a new world of poems filled with hope and freedom to the students. It made us realise that you don't need to march on roads or hold a candlelight vigil to show your resistance. You can do the same things using literature as a tool. This week-long experience opened our eyes to a peaceful and poetic way of sharing our ideas with the world.’’ Another student, Judeson, I M.A English says, ‘’This is how we want to voice out, and bring the change. Reading and reciting poems are our channel to show resistance and bring up the spirit of equality and liberty.’’
