SJEC (Autonomous) conducts UG final year examinations with strict compliance to Covid-19 preventive measures

St Joseph’s Evening College (Autonomous) successfully conducted the final year examination (2019-20 academic year) amidst pandemic with full preventive measures in place which concluded on September 30, 2020. This took place as the Apex Court cleared the deck to complete the examination by September 30, 2020.

Following the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in letter and spirit issued by Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India on Sep 10, 2020 on preventive measures to be followed while conducting examinations to contain spread of COVID-19, the college facilitated a safe environment for conducting examination for VI Semester Under Graduate (UG) students from September 22 to September 3, 2020.

“As per the UGC guidelines, the college conducted the Examinations for VI Semester UG students. The Covid-19 protocol and safety guidelines were in place to conduct smooth and safe examinations,” said Mr John Bosco, the Controller of Examinations, SJEC. Online revision classes were conducted in full swing to orient the students towards the preparation for examination amidst the pandemic.

General preventive measures towards containing Covid-19 spread included physical distancing, use of face covers/masks, frequent hand wash with soap or using sanitiser, following respiratory etiquette, and installation and use of Aarogya Setu app. In addition to these preventive measures, the Controller of Examination’s office had devised specific measures to be followed on campus. Some of the safety guidelines included checking temperature, ensuring physical distance, and students carrying their own water bottles. A symptomatic student of Covid-19 was not allowed to appear for the exam.
