St Joseph's Evening College was started in 1972 to educate
the employed students in particular, and also those who
are economically marginalized. The College is run by the
members of the Society of Jesus who have a credible
tradition of 400 years in running the institutions of
higher learning all over the world. This College has grown
up as a sister college of St Joseph's Arts and Science
College and St Joseph's College of Commerce. This College
has identified a market niche and has developed, in that
niche, core competence of its students. It has qualified
and competent Faculty Members to pursue the institution's
mission and objectives. So it was possible for this
institution to attract, retain and develop the
capabilities of the students it nurtured. This institution
had leaders who created an ethos, inculcated values,
promoted a campus culture and designed structures which
fostered innovation and encouraged creative expression.

The strategies followed in this college are designed to
put students in a position to become lucky, to give them
an edge, improve their attitude, sharpen their wisdom and
deepen their perspective with a healthy self-esteem and
thus become less self-absorbed and more sensitive towards
the plight of others and more resilient shock absorbers in
the ups and downs of life. The College intuitively feels
that self-absorbed people have very poor learning curves.
It is heartening to note that many of our alumni/alumnae
have imbibed the ethos of this College and have
established a multiplier effect in their own surroundings,
wherever they are.
May God bless us all.
