Ignation Week, 2019

In honour of the feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Jesuits, the AICUF organised Ignation Week, a series of events and activities aimed at improving the students’ understanding of the life and teachings of this great saint.

The weeklong festivities began with an inauguration on 15th July, 2019. It began with a short prayer and a welcome address by staff co-ordinator Ms. Maryanne Pais. The Principal then gave a speech highlighting the importance of St. Ignatius and his role in education. The Principal was then joined by the chief guest Ms. Ameeta Priyadarshini, Sr. Saly Joseph, Mr. Prashanth Kumar and Mr. Ebenezer Sam to officially release the poster and video for Ignatian week. Ms. Evangeline, Vice President of AICUF then delivered the vote of thanks.

The AICUF staff and student co-ordinators organised a plethora of events from July 16th to 19th, 2019. The events included the following - Bible Quiz, Face Painting, Poster Painting, Collage, Pick and Speak, Creative Writing, Dumb Charades, Elocution, Enact, Group and Solo Singing, and Photography. The theme of each event was based on the life and teachings of St. Ignatius. Every event saw wide participation from students of different years and combinations.

As Ms. Evangeline rightly stated in her speech at the start of the week, these events would not have been possible without the grace of God, the support of the management, the hard work of every AICUF member, and the participation of the students. The AICUF council members hope that this week has inspired many to imbibe the teachings of St. Ignatius. May it inspire each student to “go forth and set the world on fire.”
