getting his work done efficiently. Characterized by a
tough exterior he had a soft corner for the staff and
students. He was a farsighted person, taking decisions
independently. As a teacher of literature he was
excellent. He was fair and just in his dealings whether

importance to academics with a view to inculcate
discipline and punctuality among students. Right on

classes was increased from 3 to 4 a day so as to provide
the students with the same amount of classes as in Day
Colleges. College examinations were introduced and
remedial work was conducted for the failed students. To
solve the problems of shortage of attendance,
parent-teacher meetings were held. As a result of all
these measures, the performance of students both in class
and University examinations and attendance showed a marked
improvement. The College began a Commerce and Management
Forum with the main objective of encouraging students to
update their knowledge in Commerce and Management through
seminars and discussions. The Social Sciences Association

Compassion is a crucial prerequisite, especially in our college. We all have had stories to tell and for the past three years, Fr. Prashant has been all ears-lending his heart and his helping hand as well. What’s more, we barely hear of his magnanimity because he is all the more famous for his discreet humility! If you’ve ever had the privilege of receiving his help in a time of need, you can be sure that he’ll never talk about it in daylight. If we were to candidly confront the obvious truth, many of our graduating seniors would readily admit that they wouldn’t have made it through the degree programme if it were not for Father’s help in one form or another.
Fr. Prashant Madtha SJ is a scholar with his vast experience in teaching and writing, he is a name to be reckoned with in Kannada. A voracious leader and writer he has to his credit a number of awards and publications including ‘Padanidhi’ the first and finest thesaurus in Kannada.
St. Joseph's Evening College
established in 1972. It owes its birth, growth and
development to Almighty God who has showered his blessings
on the College, its staff and students throughout the
past 25 years and to the various Principals who by
sheer hard work and determination have contributed to the
development of the College as we find it today. When we
look into the long avenue of the future, and see the good
there is for each one of us to do, we realize, after all,
what a beautiful thing it is to work and to live and to be
happy as members of the family of St. Joseph's Evening
College and contribute our mite to society.
