Women’s Cell
was formed in the academic year 1990-91 and was
inaugurated on August 19, 1990 by Walter Andrade, S.J, the
then Principal of our College.
The Primary objective of the cell at that time was to
inculcate values in the minds of the girl students. It
took care to help them in realizing their self worth and
responsibilities towards their family and society. So the
programmes concentrated on personality development, duties
of a girl, training in assertiveness, human sexuality etc.

During the course
of time, programmes focused on Statues of Women and Human
Rights. The cell started participating in rallies and
protests organized by the women’s groups in the city.
Now the objective is to create awareness among girls of
their rights as human rights and to help them to fight for
it and thereby empowering them.
During the past eighteen years,
the cell has conducted 6 two day
programmes, more than 50 one day
programmes to our girl students and 6
inter collegiate programmes. It has participated in more
than ten rallies.
The cell has an ambitious plan of forming a Women’s Watch
Forum in Bangalore to deal with the atrocities on women in
locality. It even formed a committee and met a few times
but it didn’t take off.
A one day programme on Human sexuality – a parallel
education for girl students is arranged once a year. Now
that the college is autonomous it is being converted into
a credit programme with a follow-up activity.
The sexual harassment cell formed in compliance with the
UGC and university rules is part of the cell.
Women’s Cell is one of the vibrant non academic
associations in our College and it is a member of the
Women’s wing of the All India Association of Christian
Higher Education, Delhi.
Mrs. Gracelet Stanly is the Co-ordinator.
Following were the inter collegiate programmes conducted.
Beijing Conference on Women, Karnataka Bill on Domestic
Violence, Atrocities on women, Sexual Harassment, Uniform
